Frankfurt, April 19, 2021 // Goldman Sachs Gives is supporting the non-profit organization Afro Deutsches Akademiker Netzwerk (ADAN) e.V. with €45,000 through the Goldman Sachs Fund for Racial Equity. The donation will help the organization to further professionalize its structures and set up projects such as the “ADAN Entrepreneurship Academy”. By supporting ADAN eV, a diaspora organization for Afro-Germans, Africans and students and professionals interested in Africa, Goldman Sachs is a partner for underrepresented groups of society and promotes the important work of leading organizations that deal with their structural and address economic inequality.
“We need more support for aspiring entrepreneurs in the BPoC community. Statistics show that BPoC are structurally underrepresented in the field of entrepreneurship. With the ADAN Entrepreneurship Academy we want to counteract this. The aim of the Entrepreneurship Academy is to equip start-up teams with at least one BPoC with the knowledge, network and prerequisites needed to start a successful business,” says Allie Bangura, founder and board member of ADAN e.V.

The Afro German Academics Network (ADAN e.V.) is a non-profit association that offers a platform for exchange for Afro-Germans, Africans and students interested in Africa, as well as professionals. The association with headquarters in Frankfurt am Main was founded in 2014. Across Germany, over 300 members in seven cities are part of ADAN. With its work, the network makes diversity and Black and People of Color role models (BPoC) visible for young generations in German society, makes an important contribution to the development of Africa and conveys a differentiated picture of the continent.
