Become a Mentee

What are you waiting for?

Mantee

Let's go

Mentee werden

Pooling our strengths together and sharing our experience with the younger generations. This is just one of many goals that we as a Network are pursuing with our ADAN Mentoring Program.

ADAN Mentoring is aimed at the youth with African heritage background between the ages of 16 and 21. ADAN members support the mentees on their way through life by advising their mentee on the topics of school, studies and future career planning.

This is why the mentoring program is relevant

It can be difficult for people of African descent to succeed professionally in a society where there is a lack of role models of similar background outside of entertainment and sports. ADAN wants to use our strengths and experience to advise young people so that they can have an easier time developing their potential and following a successful career path of their choice. In addition, the cooperation with the federally funded Germany Foundation Integration opens up promising opportunities for us to further increase the visibility of ADAN and gain new cooperation opportunities and presentation platforms.

ADAN mentoring programme is looking for you!

Do you have an African migration background? Are you between 16 and 21 years old and are you still at school or have you recently finished school? Maybe you don’t yet know exactly what you want to do when you grow up, or you already have a pretty precise plan and would like to be supported in achieving your goals. Does that sound familiar to you?

Perfect, then sign up for ADAN Mentoring!

Here you will be assigned an experienced advisor free of charge for six months, who already has both feet successfully on the career ladder and who will support you at least once a month via video call on the topics of school, studies and future career planning.

Our mentors themselves have an African migration background or a close African connection. At the beginning of their studies or their professional career, they have dealt with questions similar to yours and share their experiences with you. This way, you get the best possible support for your first steps into your academic career or your career start.

So what are you waiting for? Apply now and let us support you in planning your future career!

Application period for potential mentees: Applications are currently still being accepted.

Become a Mentor

To become a mentor, you must be an ADAN member.

Based on the information provided (interests, professional background, connection to Africa, etc.), the mentors and mentees are assigned to each other and work together for five months. During this period, you as a mentor will advise your mentee at least once a month on any questions that arise regarding school, studies or career. Your communication will mainly take place digitally, i.e. via e-mail, telephone or video calls. Before the program begins, a virtual kick-off event will take place to prepare you. Here you will get all the necessary information about the program and useful materials will be provided. After two months, a first evaluation round will take place to look at your cooperation so far and to make suggestions for improvement. At the end of the program, the joint work will also be evaluated.
